Intersections of Pride Foundation is a Black and queer family founded 501c3 organization focused on fostering intersectional understanding, celebrating diverse identities, and educating others on the importance of equity and inclusion.

Mission
Intersections of Pride Foundation is a Black and queer family founded 501c3 organization that focuses on fostering intersectional understanding, celebrating diverse identities, and educating others on the importance of equity and inclusion. Centering LGBTQIA+, at-risk, and marginalized communities and their families, Intersections of Pride Foundation provides youth and family resilience life coaching programs, resources for families and allies, events, and programs that strive to bridge gaps and empower people. Envisioning a society of dignity and respect, Intersections of Pride Foundation strives to create a future where the most vulnerable in the state of Delaware, and those that love them, are embraced and celebrated.
Uplifting intersections lead to a more just and equitable society for everyone.

DeShanna Neal BS, MS, CFLE
She/They
Founder
A mother of four, DeShanna has been an advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights for over a decade. They helped shape pediatric gender affirming care, sat on several medical and academic committees to promote equity, inclusion, and intersectionality.
A co-author of a banned children's book, state representative, and a Youth and Family Resilience life coach, DeShanna founded Intersections of Pride Foundation in order to continue bridging gaps faced by LGBTQIA+ communities, their families, and allies.
Lucien Neal
He/Him
Community Outreach Coordinator
Lucien's passions are helping the unhoused and individuals and families that are struggling through life.

He is the creator of the Holiday Toy Giveaway; a program that gives donated toys to unhoused children and the food and resource give away; a program that provides a care bag of food and other helpful resources, to those in need. His focus is those facing homelessness or already in the homeless community.
Trinity Neal

Program Coordinator

​After becoming Delaware history for the transgender community, Trinity's focus turned to ensuring other trans youth and their families had support.
She is the mind behind the New Castle County LGBTQ Youth Pride Festival, Wilmington Pride March, and Butterfly Baskets; care packages given to trans and non-binary folks who've undergone gender confirmation surgery.

Hyperion and Thane are the youngest members of the organization but put in a lot of work as volunteers for the programs provided by Intersections of Pride.

You will see them at different events, lending their support and smiles, while helping the communities served.



Meet The Board
Liz DeJesus
She/Her
Board Member
Liz is a novelist, freelance writer, and a writing coach. She is the author of The Jackets (Arte Publico Press, March 2011) The Frost Series, Morgan, The Laurel, Girl, Mugshots, Zombie Ever After and ABC's With the Vejigantes. Her work has also appeared in Twice Upon a Time (Bearded Scribe Press, Winter 2015) and Someone Wicked (Smart Rhino Publications, Winter 2013).
Her articles have been featured in Southern Writers Magazine.
She is also the winner of the 2023 Delaware Individual Artist Fellowship: Emerging, Literature: Creative Non-fiction.

Cassandra Dixon

Board Member
Cassandra Dixon is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she earned her degrees in entomology and wildlife conservation. With a deep appreciation for the natural world, she has dedicated her academic and professional journey to helping others understand our role in protecting animals and our environment.
Beyond her scientific background, Cassandra has been an active contributor to several nonprofit organizations throughout her community, supporting initiatives that foster inclusion, education, and outreach. She is also a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, working to uplift and support individuals and their families through awareness, advocacy, and meaningful community engagement.
